Atlantis

I am not about to get into a very detailed discussion of Atlantis. Many books have written, many movies have come, and many TV serials have been telecast. It is a fascinating idea to think that there existed a far superior civilization very long time back but died out in a single or combination of cataclysmic events.

All the historians and archeologist talk about the Atlantis which was supposed to be in, as the name, suggests in the Atlantic Ocean – some believe it to be near Mediterranean seas near the islands such as Crete, Santorini. The general area of concurrence is around the Atlantic.

The earliest references to Atlantis are from Plato’s writings.

But to my surprise I found a website by a Brazilian man called Prof. Arysio Nunes Santos who claims that Atlantis existed in the Indonesian islands and it got sunk by a huge eruption of a volcano in those islands. He gives so many – what he calls as evidences but many of them are quite convincing for a lay man like me.

Can anyone through light on this – The professor seems to have written a book called Atlantis – Lost Continent Finally found.

It is interesting to note that Prof. Santos has mastered several languages including Greek, Latin, Sanskrit (!), and Dravida (!!) – this one is a surprise because it is now a form of culture of South India. There is a no Dravidian language as such but there are branches of the same namely Tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Kannadam all spoken in four southern Indian states and there are some minor variations in some other states also. And the most surprising one is called Brahui in the present day Pakistan.

One more interesting fact is that Prof. Santos is a Nuclear Physicist!
